Empowering Families Through Sustainable Jobs in Sokomé
It was an honor to join the opening of the newly launched Sokomé Center in Togo this summer with the Vapor Ministries team. On July 25, they inaugurated their seventh global outreach center and second in Togo with a ribbon-cutting celebrated by local leaders and community members. Seeing how sustainable employment initiatives like this one can transform a community was truly inspiring.
This center’s development created hundreds of local jobs during construction and will continue to provide jobs and resources that support long-term community growth. The day after the opening, 1,315 children and youth signed up for the center’s youth development programs, part of a network now serving more than 10,000 participants weekly.
Beyond providing jobs, the center offers essential resources such as clean water, food programs, healthcare, education, and mentorship to help the community build stronger, more sustainable foundations.
Looking ahead, Vapor remains on a bold trajectory with a goal to build a total of 16 centers by 2031. Projects are already underway in Agou, Togo and Sierra Leone, with both sites moving forward rapidly through planning and early operations.
At Good Labor Jobs, we see the same principle at work every day. Connecting Puerto Rican laborers to stable roles in the United States or supporting global partners in job creation shows how meaningful work can lift lives and strengthen communities. Our mission is to serve others in all we do, guided by values like integrity, humility, and passion. These principles drive us to provide opportunities that foster dignity, growth, and create lasting impact.
Through our V12 partnership with Vapor Ministries, we help advance their mission to create sustainable employment and support community development. As a board member, I focus on governance and strategy to ensure Vapor continues to grow and serve effectively. I am grateful for partners like Vapor who share our vision of transformation through work, resilience, and opportunity.
